A little help please!

Yesterday at Goodwill, while I was finding some AMAZING scores, Makayla decided to throw a royal tantrum! Now, she doesn't normally throw tantrums outside of the house (thankfully!) but when she does, I NEVER know what to do! Yell? Ignore? Leave automatically? Ugh! And the feeling that everyone is judging me? :-P What to do!
Well suffice it to say, I continued shopping and tried to talk her through it. I mean this Goodwill next to me has AMAZING clothes! Shorts from the Loft, Shirts from American Eagle, how can I pass up Anne Taylor pants for FIVE DOLLARS?!?! You can't, so it was "talk her through it" time. It took some time, but eventually her and I were laughing and tickling Oscar while she helped me pick out some clothes. I still felt kind of frazzled, but as I came out the the fitting room a woman stopped me and said "You are doing an amazing job with your children. Thank you for being such a good mother! You are doing fine."

So here's to you, lady at Goodwill, for helping a frazzled, upset mother have a moment of peace about this awe-inspiring, crazy, understated and scary job of motherhood!

And here's my little tantrum-free angel. In a moment that makes me so grateful I'm a mother. And so thankful that I have the kids I have. They crack me up! They make me laugh, make me cry, make me want to scream and have given me the most amazing experiences life could ever offer over the past 3 years!

  1. When I played that video, Sam started dancing to the music! I can't stop laughing.

YOU DON'T LIKE AVOCADO?!?!?!?!?!?! Sorry, this will be my last comment on your blog because we can no longer be friends. :)

I can't believe you called me a MILF. Sam was like, "Whoa!" And then he agreed. About me at least. He knows better than to comment on another woman. :)

  2. Wow, I'm impressed--i wish I could have seen you in action, so i could take notes!! tantrums are so hard in stores. I have had to leave a cart full of food at walmart before and it was not fun! i find the best thing that helps me is prepping Landon, letting him know where we're going, what we're going to do when we're there, and being super positive. but there's no guarantee--sometimes I wish i could hire my own personal toddler behavior expert to follow me around and tell me how to handle every situation! VERY cute video btw. :-)

  3. veggie tales? good girl! and, yes, i DO like to talk to tomatoes...i love to walk up and down the produce aisle! hahaha! whenever i see a kid freaking out like that, my heart always goes out to the parent. take solace in knowing that NO mom or dad knows what to do during those moments and that EVERYONE is embarrassed by this. i agree with the stranger there at goodwill. you are doing an amazing job, naomi.
