Ballerina School

These are not the best of pictures.
As parents we sit behind the window and look down the long room
because they generally dance at the opposite end from us.
I think this is so we don't distract them.
It's probably a good idea, because Makayla still looks over and waves and yells
"HELLO MAMA!"
every once in a while. It cracks me up ;-)

But I am SUPER DUPER DE DUPER excited about her taking dance!
It's a ballet/jazz/tumbling combo class every wednesday morning.
She ADORES it!
And she is actually doing really well!
She comes home after dance and shows Jordan all the new steps she learned!
And she is following the teacher fairly well!
I'm so proud.

They are learning a recital dance to "Under the Sea"
And I am kind of bummed we will already be out for the summer.

Sometimes she's a little lost.
But it's only her second class.
And she does love it so!

I just love her in her little leotard!
She gets so excited in the morning when I tell her it's time for dance.
She gets her leotard on and RUNS to the truck and says
"let's go, let's go, let's go! i'm going to be late for dancing with my friends!"

When she is done she is always sad to leave her friends.
And sad to leave her dancing teacher.

I love watching her do the tumbling portion.
I wanted her to take gymnastics first, but she told me
"No, I want to be a ballerina and twirl and twirl and twirl"

Before the class starts, if we get there early the girls run around and play with some big purple exercise balls. There are 5 girls in the class and 4 balls. The girls range in age, from one girl who just turned 2, Makayla (almost 3) a little girl that is 3, and twins that are almost 4.
So the older girls all had the balls, and the little 2 year old kept running after the balls only to have them snatched up by the older girls.
She started to get frustrated and look so sad.
Then Makayla walked up to her, took her hand and said
"You want to play with me? We can share my ball, her I'll toss it to you, then you toss it back!"
She threw the ball and said
"Go ahead, you get it this time"
I was so proud of her!
And the mother of the little girl thanked me, and Makayla for being so kind.
I don't know if I'm doing something right, or if I just got lucky in having such a wonderful daughter! But I am so grateful to have her in my life!
For the rest of the class she would reach out and help the little girl find the 'x' on the ground to stand on, or pick out a pompom to dance with.

At the end of each class they get a sticker to put on their poster and at the end of the month they get to take the poster home. I love this little reminder of her dance class!
We have a coupon for a free Musical Theatre class and I am almost more excited for THAT!
I'll let you know how it goes!

  2. These pictures are adorable. How is she growing up so fast?!

We have family in Columbus. I cannot believe you guys are moving to West Virginia. Who in the world even lives in that state?!

I think you could still make the soup without a slow cooker. Just put everything together in a big pot for a few hours!

Do you want me to email you the pictures I took at your apartment?

I edit/collage my pictures in PhotoShop Elements. It takes more time than just uploading them but I like how they look. Then I upload them onto PhotoBucket then put the HTML code into the blog.

You could hardly even see my face in the picture of me getting my teeth cleaned! It was so bloody though. Something about the pregnancy or something like that. It was crazy.

  3. It is so cute that Oscar would swim over to the flashlight when you were pregnant! I didn't even know that happened! I would have been so annoyed if I were the fetus though. I would be like, "HEY! I'm trying to sleep in here!" But I am always messing with this baby, too. It is funny.

What horror stories did you have when you were first married?! You move a ridiculous number of times so I am can imagine that there were plenty of times for things to go wrong.
