Happy Junteenth!

I almost forgot to mention the Junteenth parade the kids and I went to! It was definitely a unique experience! Junteenth is African American Freedom day, but only celebrated in about 30 states. Fortunately it's celebrated here in Texas! There were a lot of "people pulling their boats" but there were also a couple floats. The Silver Spurs (NBA) Dancers were there, and so was the Silver Spurs Fox! They also had a lot of people ride by in their cars, and some horse groups too! The kids even got some candy :-) Which in my opinion, always makes a parade ;-)
The thing that really made this Junteenth was the family across the road that would yell out what was coming next like an preacher/auctioneer! It was great! He'd also throw out a couple "Happy Juuuuuunteenth!" Or "African American FreeeeeeeeeDOM!" 'S here and there too to spice it up (told you it was part preacher!)
All in all, it was a fun morning :-)

  1. Another Junteenth come and gone...it always flies by, but it will be here again before you know it.

(Um, should I be embarrassed to admit that until this post I knew nothing about Junteenth? Because I kinda am.)
