The YMCA is really close to the apartments... that everyone else is living in...
BUT
That's ok, because I can still benefit from them learning about all the fun stuff going on, like the family fun day that was free to the community. Yes please!
Here are some of the kids, modeling their new t shirts
There was so much going on that I just couldn't capture it all on film.
So here is a brief look at some of the fun to be had that day.
Hula Hoops.
One of Makayla's new favorite things. I think she must get her hooping prowess from someone else, because I have NEVER gotten a hula hoop to stay up unless it was on my arm... then I just hit myself in the face :-( bad hula hoop, bad.
Obstacle course.
The nice little girl in front of Oscar was trying to show him how to walk around the cones, but he saw them more as hopping obstacles. Way to see outside the box O!
Balance/Juggle thing.
How did my little girl grow up so fast, look at all the random skills she has!
Face/Arm Painting.
He originally wanted a yellow cow on his arm... but since a cow is kind of hard to depict with face paint, especially yellow... we helped talk him into a bird. Still cute. Still made him happy :-)
Bug Snacks.
We made some fun and healthy snacks into awesome bug shapes. Want to know a couple?
Ants on a log - Celery, peanut butter, ants
Bugs - cheese stick, pretzels (or maybe they were those little weird things on salad...)
Riding Horses.
This was by far my kids favorite thing to do. And if it hadn't started raining, we probably would have walked back to the end of the line and ridden them again. It was that much fun.
I LOVE that my kids love horses. Makayla especially is in love with all things horses! The cartoon Horseland, chapter books on horses, she wants horse sheets for her birthday, and wants new horses to play with. I think my mom would be proud :-)

I am so glad there are so many kids here to play with!
p.s. my favorite part of the picture is the mom's at the ends trying to corral their kids for the picture. ;-)
We Ran a Race.
Well technically, I ran. I carried Makayla the first half while Oscar ran. Really, all the kids took off, and so Oscar jog/ran. He was so focused nothing could deter him... until he tripped, then I carried him while Makayla jogged/was dragged across the finish line. But they each got a medal for finishing (dead last).
You can see the excitement and determination from Oscar, and they "I hated this" from Makayla.
Guess she's like her Mama when it comes to running ;-)
Fun and Random Characters.
Not sure who this guy is... but we also saw Snoopy.
Pretty much it was an awesomely cool day with lots of fun things for the kids to do!
