Ok, this deserves a whole post.
I was SO excited when I learned Fiddle on the Roof was coming to Seattle.
Like REALLY REALLY jump up and down, pee your pants excited!
When I was a kid my sister and I LOVED this movie. And we would watch it all the time with my mom. I think it was one of her favorites too. She would get so frustrated when Krystal and I would fast forward through the "boring" songs. I didn't get it then, but now that I'm older I love ALL of the songs in Fiddler.
Then in high school I had the amazing opportunity my sophomore year to play Yente in Fiddler! It was, and still is, by far my most FAVORITE play I have ever been a part of.
I have so many fond memories of that production.
I had so many friends that were a part of that play!
I remember Martha and I doing the costumes for it. Spending long nights sewing boots, buying the exact color of grey, or blue to dye all the shirts. Even the home ec classes helped us out!
Mrs Foster brought in a lady who had grown up Jewish to talk to us about the heritage.
Jared and I worked on choreography in the english room
There was hardly an aspect I wasn't somewhat involved in.
I LOVED IT!
So needless to say watching it brought back all those fond memories.
And I could just see the faces of those who had played each part as I watched the play again.
Josh as Tevye, Mary as Golde, All three of the daughters, Tyler as Fyedke...
So many people, so many happy memories of each of them!
It's amazing the impact some moments have on your life
And doing Fiddler on the Roof was the happiest time of my teenage years.
I was so blessed to go see it again and relive that happiness.
I met up with Jordan's mom, his sister Nicole and his brother's wife Stacey and we drove to the Paramount in downtown Seattle.
This was also my first time away from Oscar! (minus the stint in the hospital after he was born) so i was pretty nervous! And although he didn't eat anything while I was gone (not through lack of trying, I guess he's just not a fan of the bottle!) Jordan said he was really good all day! Even when I met up with them later that night Oscar wasn't crying or acting hungry still! (he DID make up for it the next day though!) And both kids had a great time with their dad at Emerald Downs Horse races :-) They even got to hang out with Andrew, Jason and Grandpa! Which Makayla couldn't stop talking about the next day also!
But back to MY day :-)
We got there early, and I was SO excited as we sat there in the dark waiting for it to start.
Harvey Fernstein played Tevye, and even though he was not a singer, it was still AMAZING! I got chills during "Far From the Home I Love" Oh! The show was so wonderful!
I always forget to take pictures when I go to the shows, but here is Stacey and I outside the Paramount, trying to snag a picture as we hurried off for dinner :-)
Dinner was at PF Changs, AMAZING!
I am so blessed to be a part of the Paxton family and be able to go to the Theatre with them!
Thank you so much Paxton Ladies for inviting me!
It was a WONDERFUL day!
LUCKY!! I remember that HS production and I must admit that it was one of the best Fiddler's I've seen. You guys did great!! It's one of my favorites too!
