I don't know why, but this next post EXHAUSTS me!
Maybe it's because we are still car shopping?
Maybe it's because the whole ordeal was exhausting and completely threw our family in an entirely new direction!
Whew!
ANYWHO...
So we were driving to Milwaukee after visiting some friends and a mere TWO MILES from our hotel we suddenly felt a JOLT from behind, before we could even react to that we were suddenly spinning around on the interstate until we "softly" crunched into the guard rail.
Yep, that's us, backwards on the interstate, back end in the guard rail.
See how we are nicely off the road though? Isn't that thoughtful :-)
And all those tire skid tracks are totally ours!
All in all it could have been SUPER traumatic, but the reality was this
We had all of our stiff in the car and trunk and NOTHING was damaged!
Even though we didn't see who hit us, and they took off, some good samaritan saw the whole things and phoned the license plate and make of the car that hit us in to the police :-)
Even though they haven't found the person yet (the license plate was stolen) we had really good insurance that helped us out a lot.
AND the police man and tow truck man were super helpful and super quick!
We even got to ride in a police car to the hotel :-) The kids though that was fun!
We caused 2 accidents from "lookey lous" who were so engrossed at seeing what happened to us, that they didn't pay attention to their own driving. Silly people.
Which was good, because they actually SLEPT through the exciting "crash" part of the day ;-)
Yep, slept through the whole thing until we woke them up to say hi to the nice policeman.
And finally, after almost a week of hanging out in Milwaukee trying to decide what to do...
Our car was deemed totaled. And we had to say goodbye.
This wreck, although it could have been horrible, turned out to be a great learning experience and stopped us from being able to make in hasty decisions that we were trying to make at the time.
Instead of being in the midwest, turns out, we went to Richmond Virginia.
Who would have thought.
So thanks little car, your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Although we will miss you a lot.
Our first car together.
We bought it in 2006 and it had only 6 miles on it!
Now 6 years later, it has over 132,000!
We drove you everywhere, I mean EVERYWHERE!
And we loved you too.
Here's to old blue.
Rest in peace little buddy, rest in peace.
I know what you mean - some stories are just exhausting to retell. Bummer about your car. I think we've discussed this - sometimes our car feels more like home than anyplace else. I've had my crappy Tahoe (which was actually NICE when we bought it) longer than I've had Chancho, Olivia, or Tess. Longer than I've EVER lived in any house. I will cry the day I say goodbye to my nasty old Tahoe.
ReplyDeleteSo, bye bye Naomi's car. Thanks for being good to my friend. ;)
oh, what a crazy story! How sad about your car, but I am so impressed you found miracles and blessings that went along with all the hassle and stress!! I'm soooo glad you guys are all safe, and hey, everyone loves getting a new car, right?!!
