Back in Richmond...

AND.....
Well we are back in Richmond! Crazy huh?
Luckily our apartments were still open for another few days so we had somewhere to sleep :-)

Since we were in Richmond, we decided to take Nicole to all of our favorite places.
Like Maymont! Remember from HERE

We went to the petting zoo part of Maymont this time and there was a really fun section about the waterways and animals found in Virginia. There was also a big tank for otters to play around.
They were so cute chasing the kids the around and vice versa!

We also took her to Pony Park for some sunbathing and to let the kids run around.
We took the camera (and kids) down some quick little rapids, to the point where I was definitely more than a little nervous! HA! Good thing we made it through :-)

I found out we were really close to the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson, but when we went there it was sectioned off for a wedding, so we couldn't go in tot see the house.
It kind of worked out though because Oscar slept through the entire endeavor.

There is a little church in downtown Richmond where the speech
"Give me liberty or give me death"
was spoken (and reenacted every sunday!)
So we went to see if there was anyone famous buried there.
Of course there was ANOTHER wedding going on there that day too!
And since there is only one entrance/exit we were stuck in the graveyard for almost an hour waiting for the bridal party to stop taking pictures and leave!
We found Edgar Allen Poe's Mother's grave though. Yay us!

The kids and I took Nicole to Yorktown to another beach. Because I love beaches :-)

My Great Grandpa was in WW1 as a transportation specialist.
He wrote letters home faithfully every week and some of them were very detailed about what he was doing for a job in the Army. My dear sweet Great Aunt found all of those letters and put them in a book (she writes a lot of really neat historical/family history books!)
While she was researching it she was contacted by an Army museum in Virginia who wanted his letters, she gave them some copies and here they are in the museum! How cool is THAT!

The Fackrell's are famous here :-)

The kids love their Aunt Nicole so much! We love it when she visits us!
