What, did I forget Christmas?

Oops! I think I forgot Christmas!

We were lucky enough to be able to drive up to Washington to be with Jordan's family for Christmas. It was a quick trip up and back, but SO worth it!
Here's some pictures :-)

This is us.

Oscar and Makayla LOVE these little Hallmark music makers!
In fact, listening to them all day taught Makayla the words to
"We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
(Yes, she listened to it, THAT much!)

I was really amazed at how well Oscar did with presents!
He wanted to open them all himself and he was very interested in what was inside!

Makayla was REALLY excited for Santa!
When she woke up Christmas morning she was VERY upset about
the fact that Santa had came and went without stopping to see her!
We had to explain numerous times that that's how Santa works!
She was still upset with him,
but I think she got over when she opened her presents from him!

The kids had SO much fun seeing Andrew again!
It took FOREVER to get this picture because both Makayla and Andrew
Do this big scary "grin" of teeth when you say "smile for a picture!"
Really cute in life, not so cute for pictures...
And then we had to figure out how to get Oscar to STAY in the picture
Jordan's mom had the brilliant idea of the rocker
(it was Jordan's mom's when SHE was a kid! how cool is that!)
And Oscar really liked rocking in it too!
SCORE!
All that hard work really paid off :-)

Oscar had a blast with everyone too!

We saw Jordan's Grandpa

And his Grandma
(Mak's middle name is named after her!)

Ok, so this picture is TOTALLY out of order, but the story must be told...
On our way to washington.
So it's a 18 hour drive from St George to Olympia :-P
On the way we hit a BIG snow storm! HUGE!
About 1 hour into the drive we were going 35 mph when 2 cars WHIPPED by us so fast that the chunks of snow and ice they threw on us caused us to slide off the road into the median :-P
Where we spent the next 45 minutes until a tow truck came and pulled us out!

A couple hours later (only about 30 miles) We decided to stop and let the snow blow over.
We pulled into a truck stop and fell asleep... that was 2am
When we woke up at 7am we realized that we were snowed in,
along with 50 semis and 20 other cars and trucks :-P
We stayed stuck until about 2pm! REALLY!
Luckily there was a family that had an RV next to us and they invited us in!
Which was great because the truck stop had no electricity so they were letting NO ONE in!
But the kids had a blast climbing and walking around the well-heated RV!
THANK YOU CANADIAN FAMILY ON YOUR WAY TO ARIZONA!

This is Jordan getting pulled by a hummer to get over that last little bit
after the Canadian family helped dig us out (again, THANK YOU!)
The hummer almost pulled us right into the back of the semi, yikes!
Luckily we DID make it out and after we got to Salt Lake
(a FULL 17 hours after we started the drive!)
The roads really cleared up! Thankfully!

We made it, life was great and we made it home fine!

On another note, if you've gotten a random phone call from me...
it was probably just Oscar!
He's been a talkative little bugger lately and he LOVES the phone!

Really.
If he sees a phone, he's talking on it and dialing on it.
Forgive!

  1. Oh my gosh! What a crazy story! We were snowed in a hotel in Wyoming for a few days on our way to Texas, but that is nothing compared to a snowed-in car! Always an adventure!

  2. I would've needed large amounts of sedatives to make it through a snowy drive like that. Yuck.

  3. Snowed into a parking lot?! That is ridiculous! I have never heard of that happening. That is so scary!
