Have I told you before how cool the St Louis Zoo is?
No?
Are you sure?
Ha, I knew you'd remember, because we LOVED that zoo!
So since we would be driving right through St Louis...
We thought we'd take a day (or half a day) and see the Zoo again!
(I mean it IS free after all!)
So we stopped the night before just west of St Louis and ate at Pizza Hut,
Then drove about 20 miles to a hotel.
Why is this important you ask?
Well it's important because the next morning when we were leaving the hotel
Makayla (and I) realized we didn't have her duck.
Yes, THE duck!
So after practically emptying the truck and hotel room,
we called Pizza Hut and THEY HAD THE DUCK :-)
HOORAY!
Except for the back tracking... that part was a little annoying.
I swear, that duck will be my undoing!
On to the zoo!
Makayla got to "pet" a cheetah.
Well it was just it's fur, which makes me wonder,
why does the zoo have it's fur coat laying around?

It was a little chilly
(MUCH nicer than the 100+ weather we encountered last year at the Zoo!)
But there were still quite a few animals out.
Including the Elephants!
Love those giant crazy creatures!

Here's the giant bug statue outside of the Insectarium.
And we were lucky enough to be able to meet up with an old friend!
Mrs. P and her ADORABLE little girl!
We were there last year when she was born, so it was so great to see how much she had grown!
And can you imagine how excited I was that She dug up the monster hat I gave her?
Love that lady!
In case you want to get to know her too, here's Mrs P's
Awesomely, amazing, spiritually uplifting, crafting, thrifting and hopeful blog
The kids couldn't get enough of Baby P!
Makayla remembered her from last year (she had even named a doll after her)
And was so mad when they left, because she thought Baby P was going to be her sister now!
Poor Makayla!
Here's the P family and Oscar looking at the penguins

And inside the penguin house, distracting the "guard"
so we could pet the little guys.
I mean, they are RIGHT THERE! Who wouldn't want to pet them?
And one last picture that makes me smile.
And for all your Pinnacle employees,
don't you think this should be the new "baby folder"
:-)
Your Life. Secure.
What a great day stop on yout trip! I wish there was a great zoo nearby, but not so much...
ReplyDeleteThank goodness the duck was only 20 minutes back! We lost Emma's 'Olivia' doll this week and had to buy a replacement and are now waiting for it to arrive! Nightmare week without that doll!
The things we do to keep our children from screaming their heads off. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd what is the "baby folder"? I'm SO not in the loop.
